This wedding is a testament to the survival of our ancestors, and a union of the past and present. As we embark together on a new chapter of life, we chose to celebrate our marriage in the most meaningful ode to those who came before us and defied all odds, as we look toward creating our own family that reveres our history.
Lauren’s grandmother, Betti, is a Holocaust survivor from Vienna, and it was only she & her brother who made it out alive. As the Nazis tore through Vienna, they torched over 90 synagogues on Kristallnacht, the Night of the Broken Glass - the anniversary of which is the date of our wedding, November 9-10, 1938. Our ceremony takes place at the Stadttempel Synagogue, the only synagogue in Vienna to survive Kristallnacht. The names of Betti’s parents, as well as her grandfather, are engraved on the memorial immediately outside of the Synagogue's sanctuary in remembrance. This is a proudly religious Jewish wedding, one that celebrates our faith, resilience and strength
